The Memorial Library has a new home with beautiful and appropriate furnishings and space. It is the only library collection in Washington, DC that focuses on the period from the end of the American Revolution through the ratification of the Treaty of Ghent in 1815. Indeed, it may be the only such collection in existence.

The collection includes the Archives of Pennsylvania, the Archives of Maryland, and similar official publications of those states most involved with this period. Rosters of militia for most of the 15 states in the Union this time period are also in the Library collection. There are more than 5,000 titles in the collection representing some 6,000 volumes.

Limited photocopies are provided at a cost of $.20 per page and microfilm copies at $.50 per page.

Library Hours

The Memorial Library will generally be open to researchers on the first Saturday of each month, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, and on the second Wednesday & Thrusday of the month, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Other times may by made by appointment.

Please note, the Memorial Library will not be open the 1st Saturday in August.

The Library is staffed and assistance will be provided on topics related to the history of the War of 1812 and period from the time of the Revolution. Assistance cannot be offered in genealogy or lineage research.
